BlackBerry Torch 9860

After coming out of disparagement from the users for Blackberry Storm due to its sluggishness RIM had something to celebrate with the announcement of the new BlackBerry OS 7 devices. Blackberry introduced its new range of devices: Bold 9900, BlackBerry Torch 9810 and BlackBerry Torch 9850/9860 powered with OS 7 this august.

The Blackberry Storm 1 and 2 weren’t proved as the biggest successes of RIM’s Smartphone timeline. As for the starters, the OS was not optimized for touch, and secondly, the SurePress touchscreens were awful. So RIM came out with a solution of introducing Blackberry Torch 9860 a mixture of the Storm and the Torch to make one elegant, good-looking touchscreen SmartPhone.

Looking at the first sight you will notice it’s much slimmer than both. Blackberry Torch 9860 is a gsm phone and Torch 9850 is a CDMA compatible phone. Due to the absence of slider it’s just at 11.5mm. Blackberry Torch 9860 may also dishearten the lovers of blackberry as it does have the trademark Blackberry keyboard. But the 3.7 inches, widest of Blackberry handsets screen makes the look vivid and has a good on screen keypad which provides a smooth, accurate and fast typing experience..

Now discussing about the core part of any device i.e. its O.S., the phone runs on BlackBerry 7, like the other two models and this is what a lot of people are craving for. The most important thing to notice for this O.S. is that it features a new interface called Liquid Graphics technology which means that the CPU, processor and graphics interface all will run together to give fast responses to every touch and tap .You’ll enjoy truly stunning multimedia and gaming. Liquid Graphics delivers instant response times, smoother rendering of interfaces and fluid animations too. The phone has a new BlackBerry browser which offers incredibly fast webpage loading, better web-based gaming, HTML5 video support and seamless scrolling and zooming. RIM assures the new browser is 40 per cent faster than the browser on BlackBerry 6. It also has a Voice-activated universal search feature which means that you can search for anything you wish without even typing on the screen, u just need to speak up for the searching word .

There is nothing to doubt about the performance of the phone as it is inbuilt with the QC 8655 1.2 GHz processor and has Accelerometer, digital compass sensors. The torch has 768 MB RAM memory and saying about the storage it has 4 GB eMMC which can be expandable up to 32 GB with a microSD memory card.
Camera Capturing: Blackberry torch 9860 has a camera of 5 megapixels along with a flash. It has 720p HD video recording facility and others features like Continuous auto focus, Face detection, Image Stabilization, Geo-tagging 4X digital zoom (still images only) and Zero shutter lag. As far as the photo quality goes, the device does an excellent job of capturing images as well as has good editing options.

Battery Performance: The phone has the 1230 mAh removable/rechargeable lithium-ion battery and Blackberry again keeps up its record in giving great performances with a stand by time of upto 13.9 days and a talktime of upto 4.7 hrs. Music playback is Up to 44 hours and Video playback is Up to 6.6 hours.

Apps Compatibility and performance: As the apps which run on Blackberry phones are developed by them only so the compatibility doesn’t creates any issue. But still you can expect some of your favorite apps to not work with the Torch out of the box. New apps coming with the BlackBerry 7 operating system include the latest version (2.0) of Facebook and WikiTude, Amazon MP3, Slacker radio and Blackberry traffic are some of its featured applications.
Sum-Up : The BlackBerry Torch 9860 will definitely going to appeal to a wider audience than RIM’s previous customers. The presence of Blackberry 7 makes it faster and different features make it a perfect buy for a Smartphone user.

Last but not the least the Torch 9860 is in a completely different league to the Storm range of touchscreen handsets.
